Jane Greer

May 25, 1953 - July 22, 2025

Jane Greer founded Plains Poetry Journal, an advance guard for the New Formalism movement, in 1981, editing and publishing it until 1993. She has published three books of poems: Bathsheba on the Third Day (Duncan, 1986), Love Like a Conflagration (Lambing Press, 2020), and The World as We Know It Is Falling Away (Lambing Press, 2022). She is also an astute reviewer of books of poems and has poems published in Modern Age, New Verse Review, Plough, Literary Matters, among others. She has given lectures at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, and been interviewed several times with the Catholic Culture Podcast.

Her Green Desire

is thorn and thicket, twisted root,
tangle of shoot and tendril, hot
and wet, everything overmuch,

a wet green Paradise through which
winds whitely (though she cannot hear it),
watery-mouthed, a red-eyed ferret
